On Monday, June 15, DeKalb CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson and State Representatives Sam Park and Stacey Evans will call out Burt Jones’ and Rick Jackson’s refusal to support suspending the gas tax as Georgians face sky high prices at the pump.

During the event, speakers will call out Jones and Jackson for opposing extending the gas tax suspension as Georgians are paying nearly a dollar more per gallon than last year.

The stop is part of the “Jones and Jackson Are Out For Themselves” tour. The tour launched in Columbus on Monday, continued in Savannah on Wednesday, and then completed its third stop in Macon on Friday.

BACKGROUND:

Jones and Jackson oppose relief at the gas pump:

As Georgians pay more and more at the pump, Burt Jones is refusing to fight for price relief at the pump. When asked for his position on the tax, Jones has repeatedly “not respond[ed] to a request for comment.”

Jackson has revealed that he thinks bringing back the gas tax is the “right and prudent thing to do.” He’s also admitted to having large investments in oil companies as these companies make record profits off Trump’s Iran War.

Keisha Lance Bottoms has made clear she would push for a gas tax suspension as governor. She’s laser focused on lowering costs and making Georgia more affordable for working families
