ONE Musicfest continues to stand as Atlanta’s premiere music festival. The two-day celebration featured several moments that highlighted Black culture and Atlanta’s music scene.
On day one, the Dungeon Family Reunion featured a slew of hits performed by Big Boi, Sleepy Brown, Goodie Mobb, and Killer Mike, including “So Fresh, So Clean,” “Never Scared,” “Cell Therapy,” “Kryptonite,” and “Watch for the Hook.”
The DF reunion concluded with a heartfelt tribute to the late Rico Wade, the legendary founder of the Dungeon Family who discovered OutKast, Goodie Mob, and more. In partnership with Hennessy, ONE Musicfest presented the inaugural Rico Wade Vanguard Award to Grammy-winning producer 30 Roc (“The Box” by Roddy Rich, and “King’s Dead” by Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar, Future, and James Blake).
Following the Dungeon Family Reunion, The Roots brought the hits with help from Mary J. Blige, Busta Rhymes, and Havoc of Mobb Deep. Mary J. Blige performed hits such as “My Life,” “Be Happy,” and “What’s the 411?” Busta Rhymes performed “Scenario,” “Look At Me Now,” and “Pass the Courvoisier.”
Future closed day one with a fiery performance that featured hits such as “Mask Off,” “March Madness,” and “My Savages.”
On day two, Ludacris closed the show celebrating the 25th anniversary of his debut album “Back for the First Time.” He introduced multiple special guests including Jermaine Dupri (“Welcome to Atlanta”), Fergie (“Glamorous”). Jadakiss, Jeezy, Chingy, Shawnna, and Bobby V also performed. Ludacris also brought out Usher who performed “Lovers & Friends” and “Yeah!”
LL Cool J closed the night with “Loungin (Who Do You Love)” as Ludacris paid homage to the man who inspired him to rap.
Overall, ONE Musicfest proved why it continues to be one of the top music festivals in the nation.
