An Oklahoma sixth grader is getting his due recognition after coming to two people’s rescue in the same day.
Davyon Johnson was recognized by Muskogee County Public Schools and the sheriff’s officer after they say he saved a choking classmate by performing the Heimlich maneuver in school December 9. That same day, Johnson sprung into life-saving action once again, helping a woman get out of her burning home.
“The Muskogee Public Schools Board of Education recognized sixth-grader Davyon Johnson during the board meeting Tuesday night,” a Facebook post reads. “Davyon performed the Heimlich maneuver on a classmate December 9 and that evening helped a a woman from her house that was on fire.”
Davyon’s principal, Latricia Dawkins says the middle schooler wants to be an EMT when he grows up.
“He has always indicated that he wants to be an EMT,” Principal Dawkins told Enid News & Eagle. “So he got to put that desire into action and immediately saved that young man.”

Davyon’s mother told the news outlets his older brother is an EMT and is an important inspiration in the young hero’s life.
