On May 2, 2016, the Chicago Urban League presents its annual SUMMIT Luncheon at the Hilton Chicago, 720 S. Michigan Avenue, from 11:30a.m. — 1:30p.m. The widely anticipated event attracts more than 600 business leaders, community stakeholders and policy makers.
This year’s theme is “Blueprint for Change: From Ideas to Collective Impact” and features keynote speaker Tom Wilson, Chairman and CEO of The Allstate Corporation.
“The Chicago Urban League believes that innovation in entrepreneurship, education and job creation is essential to the nation’s economic progress,” said Chicago Urban League President and CEO Shari Runner. “To achieve significant and lasting economic and social change requires collaboration, and we look forward to Tom sharing his insight on this approach.”

As in tradition, the Chicago Urban League will recognize four Chicagoans as Innovators. Each has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to Chicago’s African American community using various platforms including economic development, the arts, philanthropy and community activism. Past recipients include Erika Allen, Founder of Green Goddess and tech educator Dr. Shawn L. Jackson.
Runner said those who attend the luncheon can expect a spirited discussion that invites solutions and action.
“While highlighting the successes of local changemakers, whose work is making a tremendous impact on the city, we will also discuss strategic ways that organizations and diverse sector leaders can join together to improve the quantity, quality and consistency of services and opportunities for African Americans,” she added.
