Shawn Blanchard
Throughout his humble beginnings he has evolving into an upstanding gentleman and exactly what he needed as a child to many. Through co-founding a successful mentoring program—which extended to legal guardianship of a teenager, obtaining multiple degrees, leading a math department to the top 5% in NYC, then teaching mathematics at the University of Michigan, co-founding a fitness movement (Run This Town/Networkingout), being featured as Essence Magazine’s, Man of the Month, and most recently featured on CNN’s “Impact Your World” he has defined what it means to be a modern day “Renaissance Man”.
Blanchard serves in the city of Detroit’s Mayoral Cabinet as the Director of Youth Services. Throughout his tenure he has successfully launched a citywide elementary soccer league and provided nearly 5600 jobs for youth ages 14-24. He also serves as the Detroit Mayor’s Office Liaison for President Barack Obama’s “My Brother’s Keeper” initiative and serves on a number of boards, e.g. Detroit’s Workforce Development and Real Life 101. Recently, he has been selected as the 2015 University of Michigan Emerging Leader for his leadership and dedication to community service.
