ATLANTA —  Janelle Monáe and Wondaland brought The Eephus Tour to a close Atlanta. After seven free secret shows across the country, the Toyota-powered tour winded down with a rousing finale at The Tabernacle. Fresh off the release of their EP Wondaland Presents: The Eephus, the Wondaland crew was all present including Jidenna, Deep Cotton, Roman GianArthur, St. Beauty, and Janelle Monáe.
Alva Adams Mason, director African American business strategy group, Toyota North America says the Wondaland Tour and Toyota philosophy are in perfect alignment, which is why the automotive powerhouse sponsored the surprising free concerts around the country and in Atlanta:IMG_8611
“A wonderful synergy exists between their Wondaland Tour and our ‘Let’s Go Places’ mantra at Toyota: It’s all about the 2015 bold Camry – innovation, inspiration, excitement. Both Toyota and Wondaland want to deliver excitement. Tonight you will see a fun, fulfilling concert unlike any other you have ever seen.”

Earlier in the day, Wondaland mingled and took photos with their fans before huddling up for a press conference with the assembled media.
Later that night is when the craziness popped off. Throngs of Wondaland fans, numbering about 2,500 including ATLiens André 3000, Big Boi, and T.I., witnessed as GianArthur opened the concert with a cover of Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy” featuring Monáe,
The duo of Deep Cotton — Chuck Lightning and Nate “Rocket” Wonder — also brought the noise with “Far Enough From Heaven” and “Let’s Get Caught.”
Jidenna was next to come out and join Deep Cotton and enthralled the crowd via the singles “Knickers” and “Long Live the Chief.”
The concert climaxed with Wondaland uniting on stage for their powerful “Black Lives Matter” anthem “Hell Youi Talmbout,” evoking the names of the murdered brothers and sisters including Trayvon Martin, Sean Bell, Freddie Gray, Sandra Bland, and Eric Garner.
Take a look at some of the photographic highlights from the special day.
