The people we sat next to said this was their grandson’s favorite burger restaurant. The grandson lives in Denver and they promised him they would come and try it. We both agreed we like Smashburger better than Five Guys. They encouraged me to try their Smashfries which are tossed with rosemary, olive oil and garlic; they were good, but a little on the thin side.
The menu includes Smashburgers and Smashchicken; you can order one of the specialty burgers or create your own. There are salads, sides like fried pickles, veggie frites and milk shakes. They also have a kids’ menu. The service was friendly and we didn’t have to wait long for our food to arrive at the table. I highly recommend that you give Smashburger a try; perhaps you have tried it in another city. Now you have one in Monroeville and hopefully there will be other locations as well.
I’ll bet you are wondering why it is called Smashburger. Williams says it starts out as a meatball and then the meatball is smashed when it is put on the grill. Monroeville’s Denver based burger spot features a Steel city burger or chicken. The Steel city burger features Stu’s Steel City Blast Furnace BBQ sauce, Applewood bacon, blue cheese crumbles and haystack onions on a pretzel bun. I’ll order that next time.
