Swizz Beats Spends Thousands on Art at Ludacris Foundation Dinner

On Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013 at the Ludacris Foundation VIP dinner, Atlanta art dealer Jerry Thomas donated and auctioned a work on paper by renowned artist Thornton Dial which sold for a record price of $30,000.

After enthusiastic bidding, the artwork was purchased by hip-hop producer Swizz Beatz who is responsible for performers like Jay Z singing about artists Picasso and Basquiat in their music. Beatz is the husband of Alicia Keys.

Thomas said, “I am thrilled that a work of art by Thornton Dial netted the top dollar at the foundation dinner … the audience was so excited about a significant work of art.

All proceeds to from the fundraising event go to the Ludacris Foundation.
