Atlanta Daily World stands as the first Black daily publication in America. Started in 1927 by Morehouse College graduate W.A. Scott. Currently owned by Real Times Media, ADW is one of the most influential Black newspapers in the nation.

The City of Atlanta will open a cooling center as temperatures begin to rise across the city.  The cooling center will open tomorrow, Tuesday, June 30, 2026. The cooling center will operate Monday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. until further notice.

The cooling center will NOT open this coming Friday, July 3, 2026, due to the holiday.

The cooling center will be located at Selena S. Butler Park, located at 98 William Holmes Borders Senior Dr NE, Atlanta, GA 30312.

Bottled water will be provided in the cooling center.

Additionally, the Department of Parks and Recreation offers the following:

  1. Splashpads are open daily 10am -8pm (All week except 7/3 and 7/4) – Free and open to the public; Locations below. – Flyer attached.

Atlanta Fire Rescue Department announced Hydration Stations at local fire stations. A map with those locations is also attached.
