Community leaders, public safety professionals, educators, healthcare providers, nonprofit organizations, and youth advocates gathered for the Second Annual Unity in the CommUNITY: DeKalb Edition, joining together to strengthen partnerships and advance community-driven solutions to reduce violence.
Hosted by the DeKalb County Human Services Department in partnership with the Metropolitan Atlanta Violence Prevention Partnership, the Georgia Violence Prevention Partnership, HOPE Hustlers, Emory University and community partners, this year’s conference centered on the theme “Metro Atlanta Unites for Safer Communities.”
The event highlighted the importance of collaboration in preventing violence, bringing together organizations from across the region to share data, discuss evidence-based strategies and identify new opportunities to work together. Discussions focused on strengthening neighborhoods by investing in prevention, supporting families, creating opportunities for young people and addressing the root causes of violence.
Throughout the conference, attendees participated in panel discussions, a community resource expo, a policy fireside chat and youth-led conversations that reinforced a common goal: building safer, stronger communities through partnership, innovation and shared responsibility.
The conference served as a reminder that lasting change happens when communities come together with one vision, one voice and one commitment to creating a safer future for everyone.
