Sean “Diddy” Combs’ projected prison release date has been moved up for a third time amid unconfirmed reports that he was involved in an altercation with another inmate.
Federal Bureau of Prisons records viewed Wednesday, July 29, list Combs, 56, as eligible for release on January 24, 2028.
“At this point, we do not have the necessary information to respond with any clarity,” a spokesperson for Combs said about the revised date.
Combs is serving a 50-month sentence at FCI Fort Dix, a federal prison in New Jersey. His original release date was June 4, 2028, but it was later changed to April 25, then February 23 and now January 24.
The latest change comes days after several media outlets reported that Combs was involved in a physical altercation with another inmate. Prison staff reportedly broke up the incident, after which Combs was allegedly placed in solitary confinement.
Neither Combs nor his representatives have publicly addressed the reported altercation. Fort Dix also declined to confirm whether he had been placed in solitary confinement, citing restrictions on disclosing internal information about people in federal custody.
Combs was arrested in 2024 on sex-trafficking, racketeering and related charges, which he denied. Following a high-profile trial, he was convicted of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution but acquitted of the more serious sex-trafficking and racketeering charges.
While incarcerated, Combs is participating in Fort Dix’s Residential Drug Abuse Program, a cognitive behavioral therapy program for eligible federal prisoners. Participants who successfully complete the program may qualify for up to one year off their prison sentences.
Before sentencing, Combs acknowledged in a letter to the judge that he had “lost his way” amid “drugs and excess.”
