Yesterday, Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum artist, humanitarian, and Atlanta native 21 Savage hosted the 10th Annual “Issa Back 2 School Drive” at the Wade Walker Family YMCA in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Attendees enjoyed a range of exciting activities and received essential school supplies, backpacks, shoes, food and more for attendees. The event was produced with annual partner Momma Flystyle and sponsored by Live Nation and CGB, all in collaboration to help 2,000 local families and students start the new school year confident and prepared.
Over the past 9 years, this back to school event has supported thousands of students and families in Metro-Atlanta with essential school resources, such as backpacks, sneakers, haircuts, uniforms, and financial literacy handbooks. This initiative is part of 21 Savage’s ongoing hometown commitment to financial literacy and youth empowerment with 10 schools across Dekalb County offering his bespoke curriculum as he embarks on extending his financial literacy bank account program for a second straight year this fall. This marks a major expansion this month in his Dekalb County partnership with the schools and his long-term collaboration with Wade Walker having partnered for the past 9 years on the ongoing back to school events, Thanksgiving and Christmas drives with his Leading By Example Foundation.
Last year, Congressman Hank Johnson of Georgia’s 4th District and DeKalb County Commissioner Mereda Johnson and Commissioner Nicole Massiah made special guest appearances offering heartfelt remarks for 21 Savage’s continued contributions to the community. In 2024, he teamed up with Wealthy Habits to launch the Financial Success 101 Guide, providing valuable resources to more than 3,000 students in attendance. Building on that momentum, the foundation maintains its year-round financial literacy initiative in partnership with DeKalb County Schools. The program debuted with the first-ever “Bank Account Financial Literacy Week,” bringing foundational financial education sessions to students across 10 DeKalb schools. Through his foundation, 21 Savage has also provided thousands in scholarships by opening 21 bank accounts for teens and students.
Founded in 2018, Leading By Example Foundation, is a 501c3 nonprofit foundation 21 Savage created to spearhead his philanthropic endeavors. Using the multi -platinum standout single “Bank Account” from 21 Savage’s Issa Album, 21 Savage in partnership with Get Schooled and Juma, launched the “21 Savage Bank Account” campaign to create social awareness around financial literacy.
The foundation encourages youth to understand the basics of managing money, opening bank accounts, and savings for college through partnerships with leading financial literacy organizations. Through his Leading By Example Foundation, Savage has granted over 1000 youth scholarships and financial literacy education and has provided online access to financial literacy programs to youth nationwide free through his Bank Account at Home program. The foundation is committed to providing essential resources for youth in Atlanta and nationwide through charitable activations every year.
