Days after amplifying a boycott of a Black woman-owned Atlanta restaurant for the offense of welcoming Rick Jackson, Keisha Lance Bottoms told an Atlanta audience that Georgians who support Rick Jackson have been bought.
Speaking at The Gathering Spot, Bottoms said “And for everybody who is taking money from [Rick Jackson], God bless you. A good friend of mine who’s probably in his room often reminds me: If you can be bought, you can be sold.”
The remark follows a week in which Bottoms amplified online efforts to boycott Toast on Lenox after its co-owner sat down with Rick Jackson, and it extends the same standard from Georgia businesses to Georgia voters. First it was the business that welcomed him. Now it is anyone who stands with him.
“Keisha Lance Bottoms went after a Black woman-owned restaurant because Rick Jackson ate a meal there, and now she is telling Georgians that anyone who stands with him has a price. Black Georgians, Hispanic Georgians, small business owners, and working families do not need Keisha Lance Bottoms’ permission to decide who they support, and they are not for sale.
