Atlanta to welcome thousands of leaders as host of 2028 Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority International Convention

Atlanta Daily World stands as the first Black daily publication in America. Started in 1927 by Morehouse College graduate W.A. Scott. Currently owned by Real Times Media, ADW is one of the most influential Black newspapers in the nation.

Atlanta will host the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® (AKA) 73rd International Convention in 2028. Atlanta City Council President Marci Collier Overstreet was joined at the announcement by fellow AKA member, Atlanta City Councilmember for District 10, Andrea L. Boone, both of whom were named Honorary Chairs of the 73rd International Convention. The prestigious gathering is expected to draw thousands of AKA members from across the United States and abroad. 

The International Convention is the Sorority’s premier international business meeting, where members convene to conduct organizational business, strengthen leadership, celebrate achievements, and advance initiatives that create lasting impact in communities globally. This will be the fourth time Atlanta has hosted the event, most recently doing so in 2016.  

“With immense excitement, I am proud to announce that Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated will bring together its members for the 73rd Boule in 2028 in Atlanta to celebrate a powerful legacy of service to all mankind. We know there’s no better stage than Atlanta, a destination as vibrant and dynamic as the organization. As thousands gather for the 73rd Boule in 2028, this event will benefit local hotels, restaurants, transportation providers, and other businesses, while also enhancing Atlanta’s visibility as a host for major gatherings,” said Atlanta City Council President and Honorary Chair of the International Convention, Marci Collier Overstreet.

Boone.
