Historic Rivalry. Enduring Legacy. New Tradition: ATL Labor Day Classic Debuts This September

The ATL Labor Day Classic will debut Saturday, September 5, 2026, when longtime rivals Morehouse College and Clark Atlanta University meet at B.T. Harvey Stadium during Labor Day Weekend. While the historic institutions have met on the football field for decades, the ATL Labor Day Classic will elevate the rivalry into a premier HBCU cultural experience that celebrates legacy, pride, and community while creating new memories for generations to come.

The annual Morehouse–Clark Atlanta matchup will serve as the centerpiece of the newly launched ATL Labor Day Classic, a weekend-long experience built to elevate game day and showcase Atlanta’s HBCU culture. The inaugural Classic will honor the rich history and impact of both institutions while connecting longtime supporters with the students and future leaders who will carry these traditions forward.

The ATL Labor Day Classic is being developed and promoted by 91 Sixty Seven Sports & Entertainment in cooperation with Morehouse College Athletics, Clark Atlanta University Athletics, and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC).

“Morehouse and Clark Atlanta share one of the most storied rivalries in HBCU football — a matchup dating back to 1900 — and Atlanta is its natural home for a Labor Day Weekend celebration of HBCU excellence,” said Jerry Freeman, co-founder of 91 Sixty Seven Sports & Entertainment. “We didn’t create this rivalry. What we’re building is a bigger stage around it, so alumni, students, families, and the entire Atlanta community can experience everything that makes this game — and these institutions — special.”

Throughout the weekend, visitors will experience the bands, school spirit, fellowship, and pageantry that make an HBCU game day unlike anything else. Programming is expected to include fan experiences, alumni gatherings, hospitality events, entertainment, and community-centered activities.

As the inaugural event, organizers envision the ATL Labor Day Classic becoming a lasting Atlanta tradition — one that grows each September and deepens the ties between these institutions and the communities they serve.

Additional details regarding game-week activities, community programming, and special events will be announced in the coming weeks. Broadcast and streaming details will be announced at a later date.
