Bottoms on V103 Atlanta: ‘Everywhere That I Go People Are Talking About the Cost Of Living, and It’s Not Just People Who Are Living Paycheck to Paycheck’
After her resounding victory in Georgia’s primary election, Democratic gubernatorial nominee Keisha Lance Bottoms continued to share with Georgians her vision for lowering costs, expanding Medicaid, and standing up for voting rights.
During an interview on WAOK radio’s Wake up with Dee, Bottoms discussed the most pressing issues facing Georgians. “Everybody wants access to childcare, everybody wants access to medical care, everybody wants support for their small businesses, everybody wants to be able to afford to live in their home in dignity […]” said Bottoms. “So we’re going to keep telling our truth, and we’re going to keep moving around the state telling our truth. What I know is that the things that I care about and the things that I want for my family are not very different than [the] things that people across the state of Georgia want for their [families].”

On V103’s Big Tigger Morning Show Bottoms assured listeners that she is aware of their concerns. “Everywhere that I go people are talking about the cost of living, and it’s not just people who are living paycheck to paycheck […]” said Bottoms. “A lot of people who own businesses are saying tariffs have made the cost of goods too high. I have a friend who was going through cancer treatments, their health care premium went up from maybe $600 a month to over $2,000 plus a month in January when we didn’t extend the ACA subsidies […] Rent was already a big conversation on how people can afford to live in dignity.”
And on MSNOW’s Velshi Bottoms expounded on her plan to improve the overall quality of life for all Georgians. “So people are reflecting their voices through their votes. This issue of affordability was top of mind even before the Big, Ugly Bill. The cost of housing in Georgia is a huge problem. We’ve not expanded Medicaid in Georgia, so we’ve had nine rural hospitals close. We’re falling in the bottom half in literacy rates in this state. People are concerned about job security […]” said Bottoms. “And now you add on the war in Iran, we’ve got gas prices going up when people were already concerned about grocery prices. So, we’ve just been trying to speak the language of the people, not just talking to people, but also listening to people about how they want me to deliver, God willing, when I’m elected governor.”
