Atlanta City Council President Marci Collier Overstreet was honored as the 2026 Humanitarian of the Year by Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation President and CEO Taos Wynn and Atlanta Fire Rescue Department Chief Roderick M. Smith during the Breakfast With Our Bravest event on May 8.
The Humanitarian of the Year Award, jointly presented by the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department and the Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation, recognizes individuals whose service reflects exceptional community leadership, civic engagement, and philanthropic impact. Council President Overstreet was celebrated for her steadfast commitment to community-centered leadership and meaningful public engagement.
“Receiving the 2026 Humanitarian of the Year Award is a testament to the impact of leading through sincerely listening to the community’s needs. I’m humbled to be recognized by our Fire Rescue Department and the Atlanta Fire Rescue Foundation, who understand what it means to serve our community, and encouraged to continue my work for a stronger Atlanta,” said Council President Overstreet.
