CreATL Arts Fest, the first of two events within the Summer Movies Experience at The Home Depot Backyard, is a celebration of the arts in Atlanta.

The Home Depot Backyard (HDBY), as part of its Arts and Culture collection presented by The Home Depot Foundation, is set kick off its Summer Movie Experience with CreATL Arts Fest on Saturday, August 23 from 6:00 to 11:00 p.m.

CreATL Arts Fest is a community celebration that will showcase Atlanta’s vibrant art scene through the various forms of art, including painting, sculpture, architecture, literature, music, film, and theater.

Among the featured activations for CreATL will be an immersive community painting experience with Sway Art, fan making with Oriental Trading, dance performances by Manga African Dance and Moving in the Spirit, storytelling featuring The Wren’s Nest, sustainable arts and crafts station courtesy of Scraplanta, arts education with Children’s Museum of Atlanta, wood crafts workshop with Teenz on Point, and on-site programming courtesy of the Fulton County Art Van.

CreATL will also commemorate the five-year anniversary of Monuments: Atlanta’s Immigrants, one of two murals located at The Home Depot Backyard, with an artist talk featuring the mural’s creator Yehimi Cambron. Cambron will lead a crafts workshop for attendees during the event as well.

An on-site vendor village will also be featured during the event, showcasing a uniquely curated collection of small businesses and vendors from across greater Atlanta offering a wide variety of goods and services.

Entertainment for CreATL will be headlined by a center lawn prime time showing of Ratatouille, the 2007 Academy award-winning animated comedy-drama film starring the voices of Patton Oswalt, Lou Romano, Ian Holm, Janeane Garofalo, Peter O’Toole, Brian Dennehy, Peter Sohn and Brad Garrett. Other activations include a VIP seating experience courtesy of Picnic Time, a beer garden presented by Sweetwater Brewing, silent disco, gaming trailer, food trucks, immersive photo experiences, giveaways, and more.

Music will be provided by DJ MuziSean with Atlanta native and influencer Arkeedah McCormick serving as the event’s host.

CreATL Arts Fest at The Home Depot Backyard is free and open to the public, but registration is required for entry. Tickets are now available via The HDBY Eventbrite page found HERE.

In 2024, The Home Depot Backyard’s Summer Movie Experience saw more than 20,000 total registrants across two events (Backyard Bash and BackYARD Fest). Additionally, both events in the HDBY’s Summer Movie Experience collective was honored with Silver (Backyard Bash) and Gold (BackYARD Fest) Stevie® awards earlier this year at the 2025 American Business Awards® ceremony.
