The (BESLA) will host its highly anticipated 2025 Mid-Year Conference in Atlanta on May 29-31, 2025, bringing together legal and industry professionals from across the entertainment and sports sectors. This year’s theme, “Bridging the Gap: Advocacy, Artistry & Access,” explores the vital connection between legal advocacy, creative industries, and equitable opportunity.
The Mid-Year Conference features dynamic programming designed to elevate and inform the next generation of legal and business professionals in entertainment, sports, and related industries. Attendees engage in interactive panel discussions, fireside chats, and networking sessions focused on the legal intersections of name, image and likeness (NIL), artificial intelligence (AI), intellectual property, contract negotiations, defamation law, and media ownership. The programming also amplifies the voices of Black legal leaders, executives, artists, athletes, and entrepreneurs driving cultural and policy change across the globe.
On Thursday, May 29, 2025, Grammy Award-winning artist, producer, and philanthropist Lil Jon will be honored with the Beacon of Industry Award and will participate in a compelling fireside chat exploring his career journey, business ventures, cultural influence, and advocacy for mental health & wellness, as well as community development.
On Friday, May 30, 2025, NBA Champion, entrepreneur, and media personality Matt Barnes will be honored with the Power Player Award at Georgia State University College of Law and will also participate in a fireside chat. The BESLA Power Player Award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated exceptional influence and leadership in sports, entertainment, or a related legal field. This honor celebrates a trailblazer who exhibits professional acumen, financial savvy, and the ability to remain relevant and excel while successfully navigating transitions across multiple industries.
