Lady Hawks Inspire High School Students At Third Annual ‘Say Yes To The Prom Dress’

The Lady Hawks recently collaborated with Becca’s Closet Greater Atlanta to host their third annual ‘Say Yes to the Prom Dress’ event at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta. At the event, nearly 40 underprivileged teens from local Atlanta high schools selected from a variety of free prom dresses, shoes, and accessories and received hair and makeup tips from local vendors to prepare for their upcoming prom day.

“I’m grateful to Becca’s Closet Greater Atlanta and our local vendors for helping us create lasting memories for these teens,” said Atlanta Hawks Principal Owner, Jami Gertz. “It feels great to put a smile on their faces and inspire confidence they will carry with them well beyond prom night. This event is always a highlight of our season.”

The Lady Hawks is a women’s auxiliary group comprised of wives, significant others, and mothers of Atlanta Hawks players, coaches, and basketball operations staff. To ensure a positive impact on the community, the Lady Hawks focus on ongoing programs in collaboration with local organizations that support women and youth throughout Atlanta.

Members of the Lady Hawks, volunteers from the Atlanta Hawks staff and members of Shamea Shares, were also on site at the event. The event aimed to enhance self-esteem and promote inner beauty by providing students with everything they need to feel confident and empowered on their special day.

“Becca’s Closet Greater Atlanta is thrilled to partner with the Lady Hawks to help make one of the most memorable nights of students’ lives possible,” said Tiffany Cadogan, Becca’s Closet Greater Atlanta Chapter Organization. “We know parents and students have a lot on their plates, and we’re grateful to offer them peace of mind when it comes to prom night. For the past 14 years, we’ve had the privilege of witnessing the joy and relief that comes when students ring the bell and choose the perfect dress.”

Volunteers from the Hawks, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta, Shamea Shares, and local vendors including WM Events, Ulta Beauty, Spanx, and Kendra Scott helped cover all the prom needs at different stations, including shoes, purses, jewelry, and accessories. Additionally, local hair stylists and makeup artists including Woo Cosmetics, Playhouse Beauty, KG for Hair, Lisa Pope and more assisted and gave tips to get ready for prom.

In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Hawks hosted Women’s Empowerment Night presented by Your Atlanta Area BMW Centers during the Hawks win against the Indiana Pacers on March 8 at State Farm Arena. Throughout the night, the Hawks honored Women’s History Month by recognizing women’s contributions to the organization, the game of basketball, and the city of Atlanta. The festivities also featured the graduation of the She LEADS Class of 2025. In addition, the first 5,000 fans through doors received a complimentary belt bag giveaway.
