Breast Cancer Survivor Gladys Bettis hosted the American Cancer Society “Divas With A Purpose!” at the Savoy Restaurant in the Strip District. It was the American Cancer Society’s official Breast Cancer Awareness Month kick-off event.
According to statistics, in 2015, 232,670 women will be newly diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States and 40,290 women will die from the disease. In Pennsylvania alone, 11,060 women will be diagnosed this year, and 1,980 will die from the disease.
Bettis, the mother of NFL hall of famer Jerome Bettis, served as the special guest of the evening that included celebrity bartenders, auctions, appetizers, specialty cocktails, and more.
