Take MARTA To Celebrate Fourth Events

By Special to the Daily World
Whether you’re celebrating your July 4th with fireworks, baseball or a morning run with 60,000 of your closest friends, MARTA makes it safe, quick and convenient to travel to great events around town.  MARTA will have service available from 4:45 a.m. to 1 a.m. to accommodate the Peachtree Road Race, Braves game, fireworks displays and other celebration events.

For only $2 each way (plus a 50 cent charge to purchase a temporary Breeze ticket or a $1 charge for a permanent Breeze card), it’s easy and affordable to take MARTA to enjoy July 4th festivities.  Because of the large crowds that are expected, customers should purchase a round-trip fare at the beginning of their trip to avoid long lines on the return.

Extra staff and police will be on hand to assist customers.  Peachtree Road Race participants are encouraged to take the Gold Line train to Lenox for the start of the race.  MARTA will be operating extra trains to Lenox to get runners quickly to the starting line.  Shuttle buses will also be available at Lindbergh Center Station before the race to transport runners close to the starting line (Buckhead Loop) and at Midtown station after the race to bring participants back to Lindbergh Center Station.

Parking for less than 24 hours is free at all MARTA’s daily parking facilities.  Customers parking in the decks at Lindbergh Station must park in MARTA designated areas and validate their parking ticket at machines inside Lindbergh Center Station in order to receive free daily parking.

Please note that MARTA has some designated lots which charge a fee.

Some bus routes will be re-routed for the Peachtree Road Race and other scheduled events.  These bus routes are listed below.

MARTA will operate a Sunday bus schedule on Monday, July 4th.
