U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) is headed to the altar.
On Tuesday (September 2), Booker took to Instagram to announce his engagement to his girlfriend, Alexis Lewis.
“I’m thrilled to share: Alexis and I are engaged!” the senator wrote alongside a photo of him on one knee.
“Alexis is one of the greatest unearned blessings of my life. She has transformed me, helping me to ground and center my inner life, and discover the joys of building a nurturing home with someone you love,” Booker added.
“I am savoring the soul-affirming wonder of everyday life with my partner, best friend, and now my fiancée,” he continued. “We are excited for this journey ahead, having so much fun, and feeling deeply grateful for the love, support, and energy so many of you have shared with us. We are truly blessed to be surrounded by such a beautiful community lifting us in love and commitment.”
According to an aide, Lewis, an employee at a real estate investment firm, and Booker met on a blind date set up by a mutual friend and have been dating for 16 months, per NJ.com. Booker previously dated Rosario Dawson for just over two years before they split in 2022.
