Morehouse School of Medicine’s Prostate Cancer Precision Prevention Program will provide free prostate cancer screenings during Game On for Good Health, a community tailgate presented by the Men of Mt. Ephraim Baptist Church. The football-themed health and wellness event, co-sponsored by MSM PCP3 and Potlikker Capital, is designed to encourage men—particularly African American men, who are disproportionately affected by prostate cancer—to prioritize early detection and take an active role in protecting their health.
Morehouse School of Medicine is the first academic medical institution to provide free mobile community prostate cancer screenings in Georgia, and PCP3 is the first initiative in the nation to offer prostate cancer screening events specifically tailored to the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. Through PCP3, the institution has screened more than 2,400 men statewide.
WHAT:
Game On for Good Health will combine free prostate cancer screenings with football, fellowship and family-friendly community activities.
PCP3 will administer free prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screenings. A PSA screening is a simple blood draw used to measure the level of a protein produced by the prostate gland and help identify potential signs of prostate cancer or other prostate conditions. The screening does not involve the more invasive examination many men commonly associate with prostate testing.
No health insurance is required. Screenings are open to men ages 18 and older, including members of the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. In partnership with Sign1News, American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters will be available onsite to assist with translation during the screening process.
Men who complete a screening will receive:
· A free haircut
· A $25 incentive
The event will also feature:

· A car seat safety exchange
· Community activities
Attendees are encouraged to wear apparel representing their favorite college or professional football team.

WHY:
Georgia ranks fifth in the nation for prostate cancer incidence and sixth for prostate cancer mortality. Although prostate cancer has a greater than 99% survival rate when detected early, many men delay screening because of limited access, lack of insurance or misconceptions about the screening process.
