Every day, countless women fight a secret battle with pornography — hiding their habit in the shadows of shame and believing they’re the only ones. They’re not.
Recent research suggests that pornography use among women is far more common than many people assume. A 2024 study by The Barna Group found that 44% of women in the United States report viewing pornography to some extent, up from 39% in Barna’s 2016 research.
Out of the Shadows is a free six-part video series that directly confronts the stereotype that women don’t struggle with pornography and provides a path forward. Created by the Fortis Institute and hosted by Fortis Institute Fellow Libby Glosson, the series combines biblical insight with practical guidance to help women move beyond shame, understand the deeper roots of addiction and pursue lasting freedom.
“Nobody is talking about this topic,” said Glosson. “This series is a free resource to help replace secrecy with truth, so women can know freedom really is possible.”
With strong biblical teaching, practical application and a compassionate tone, this series speaks directly to a growing and underserved audience, replacing isolation with truth and hope through conversations that:
• Equip women with a deeper understanding of their desires
• Expose why pornography never satisfies
• Point viewers toward what their heart is truly longing for
• Reveal how lasting transformation comes through a greater affection for Christ
• Provide practical strategies for responding to temptation in real time
• Show women what lasting growth looks like after breaking free
A companion study guide is available to help women turn what they learn into meaningful steps forward. Through honest reflections, Scripture-based exercises and practical action steps, the study guide reinforces key truths from the videos to help women build new habits, strengthen their thought processes, and grow in hope and lasting transformation.
“When sin struggles hide in darkness, they grow,” Glosson added. “When they’re brought into the light of God’s word, true repentance, forgiveness, and real and lasting change can and does actually happen.”
