DeKalb County Commissioner Nicole Massiah continues to invest in the future of District 3 students and families in partnership with Beulah to support the 2026 Balanced Life Expo & Back-to-School Bash, where she will also serve as a Platinum Sponsor, exhibitor, and featured speaker.
Hosted by Beulah Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Dr. Jerry D. Black, the annual event is expected to welcome more than 1,000 families for a day focused on education, health, wellness, community engagement, and back-to-school preparation. The expo features more than 75 exhibitors, health screenings, educational workshops, community resources, school supplies, children’s activities, complimentary food, and family entertainment.
“Every child deserves to begin the school year knowing their community believes in them,” Commissioner Massiah said. “This investment is about more than backpacks and school supplies. It’s about investing in hope, opportunity, and the future of our young people.”
During the event, Commissioner Massiah will encourage students to begin the school year with confidence, faith, and determination. Drawing from Luke 2:52, she will remind students that even Jesus “grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man,” challenging them to pursue growth not only academically, but also in character and purpose.
“I want every student to know that your story is still being written,” Massiah said. “Your circumstances do not determine your future. Through faith, hard work, and perseverance, you can accomplish far more than you ever imagined.”
The Commissioner is grateful to partner with Beulah Missionary Baptist Church and Dr. Jerry D. Black in creating an event that strengthens the entire community.
“Dr. Black and the Beulah family have created something much bigger than a back-to-school event,” Massiah said. “They’re bringing together churches, nonprofits, healthcare providers, businesses, government agencies, and volunteers to care for the whole person and strengthen the entire family. I am honored to partner with them in this important work.”
Commissioner Massiah’s office will also host an exhibitor booth during the expo, where residents can learn more about District 3 initiatives, county services, and resources available to families.
The Balanced Life Expo & Back-to-School Bash will be held on Saturday, August 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Beulah Community Family Life Center, 2340 Clifton Springs Road, Decatur. The free community event is open to the public.
