Parts of northern Clayton County are under a boil water advisory after a pump station failure overnight, officials said Monday.
The Clayton County Water Authority issued the advisory, which affects Forest Park, Lake City, College Park, and Morrow. Officials say other areas of the county are not impacted.
Residents in affected areas are advised to boil water before use or rely on bottled water for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, and preparing baby food. Water should be boiled for at least one minute after reaching a rolling boil.
Health officials caution that infants, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems should take extra precautions. Public water fountains in the impacted areas should also be avoided.
The situation remains ongoing, and updates are expected.
