Lamar Odom says he is now “completely sober,” sharing that education about addiction has played a major role in his recovery.

In a recent interview with Page Six Radio, the former NBA star explained that he no longer drinks alcohol and views addiction as a disease. He said that learning more about it has made it easier to stay sober, adding that people with addictive tendencies are better off avoiding substances entirely.

Odom, 46, was arrested for a DUI in Las Vegas in January, but says his mindset has shifted. He emphasized that understanding addiction as a brain disease—similar to other serious illnesses—has helped him take control of his behavior.

Reflecting on his past, Odom also spoke about his 2015 near-fatal overdose, which left him in a coma for three days and caused multiple heart attacks and strokes. He described his survival as a “miracle,” crediting God with saving his life.

While his ex-wife Khloé Kardashian supported him during that time, Odom downplayed her role in his recovery, maintaining that his faith was the primary force behind his survival.

Their relationship and his struggles were recently revisited in the Netflix documentary Untold: The Death and Life of Lamar Odom, which includes Khloé’s account of the challenges she faced during his addiction.
