for shredding unwanted items to reduce litter
In observance of the last day of Black History Month, South Fulton City Councilmember Helen Zenobia Willis is hosting a Shred & Produce Distribution at Welcome All Park and Recreation Center. The event, which starts at 9 a.m. until noon, will provide critical services to hundreds of residents in partnership with Fulton Fresh Mobile Market and members of Divine 9 organizations such as Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
The event provides both food assistance and secure document disposal at a time when many families are facing increased financial strain. By the end of the day, more than 500 bags of fresh produce and fruit will be distributed to more than 200 South Fulton families, helping to directly address food insecurity in the community.
In January, in similar event, more than 300 families were served and the free shredding component resulted in the destruction of more than 8,000 pounds of paper products. Approximately 60 large 95-gallon bins of documents were emptied into an industrial on-site shredder, eliminating sensitive materials and helping reduce litter and illegal dumping throughout city neighborhoods.
Members of the news media are welcome to cover the event, interview recipients and Councilmember Willis will be on hand to speak with the media.
