The next two events I want to share with you are annual events. On April 1, The Homewood AMEZ Church Senior Missionary Society will host its Annual Tea at the church, located at 724 N. Homewood Ave., in Homewood. So many ladies have beautiful hats in their closets and nowhere to wear them. This event requires a $15 love donation. I enjoy this event each year. The following weekend, the Black Association of South Hills (BASH) for Women will present their scholarship fundraiser at the Double Tree by Hilton Meadowlands Hotel in Washington, Pa. So many people ask me about this event after it is over and say they never know when it is going to take place. It is always well attended and I have seen some of the largest 50/50 prizes won at this event. They have great vendors and put on a good presentation that often includes a fashion show. Tickets can be purchased for $40 via their website www.bashforwomen.com.
There are a lot of events coming up and I will tell you about a few more, next week. If you are reading this, you already know. Enlighten your friends. Tell them to read the newspaper and stop blowing past the television commercials.
Another thing that has been on my mind in the last few weeks is that a few people have come up to me and asked me if the New Pittsburgh Courier still exists. A few even asked while I had a camera in my hand. I guess they thought I was taking pictures for myself and not for the paper. Yes, we are still around and there are dozens of locations where you can pick the paper up. You can even get a subscription and have it delivered to you. I am going to start carrying subscription cards again; when you see me, ask for one. We would love your business.
