ATLANTA — Hartsfied-Jackson Atlanta International Airport remains the world’s busiest when it comes to passenger traffic and flight counts, but it trails other airports in two main categories.
According to the Airports Council International, a global airport trade association, Hartsfield-Jackson trails two other airports in international traffic and cargo.
The trade association released its world airport traffic report and final airport rankings based on 2015 traffic.
The Atlanta airport handled a record 101.5 million passengers last year, keeping it in the No. 1 spot in the world. It also reclaimed its position from Chicago O’Hare as the airport with the most flights in the world, with more than 882,000 flights at Hartsfield-Jackson in 2015.
But Dubai has the busiest airport in the world based on international passenger counts, followed by London Heathrow and the airport in Hong Kong, according to the report released Friday.
Hong Kong and Memphis were the top two airports in the world based on cargo tonnage, with Hong Kong handling the most international cargo and Memphis handling the most domestic cargo.
