In an effort to end violence between young men of color, The Game has joined forces with the Los Angeles Police Department to launch #StopTheViolence.
The campaign recently released its first public service video message featuring LAPD Chief Charlie Beck and the rapper asking the community to unite and put an end to inner-city violence.
The Game asks viewers “to stop killing one another” and take a “positive stand” to unite the community. Chief Beck notes that statistics show the overwhelming majority of shootings last year were committed by young men of color targeting others like them.
According to LAPD officials, the public service announcements will be posted on Twitter with the hashtag #StopTheViolence. Future videos will continue to feature celebrities, including athletes, actors and other well-known public figures, LAPD officials said.
