Dear Community Leaders,

IRREPARABLE DAMAGE IS BEING DONE TO ENTIRE FAMILIES                                                              BECAUSE TWO WEALTHY MEN CANNOT COME TO ANY AGREEMENT.

First of all please let me thank you. The Chicago State University story has spread like wildfire! We cannot make progress with your efforts!!
Our legislators have thunderously responded. But don’t stop calling and writing them.    Rainbow -Push Coalition has pulled out all of the stops to make inroads through weekly meetings, outreach, Press Conferences and phone calls. Reverend Janette Wilson alongside Reverend Jackson now have students from other colleges and universities joining this statewide fight against education. We are fired up and ready to go under the inspiring and revolutionary leadership of our new University President -Dr Thomas J. Calhoun.

    WHAT HAPPENED:
Rauner and Madigan won’t budge.  State Representative Ken Dunkin addressed a core group of Community Leaders during  a meeting of the Illinois African American Family Commission yesterday. He said  ” There is no communication right now.  Mike Madigan refuses to speak to Rauner”  The Illinois House and Senate voted for MAP Grants and Community College Funding. They voted “GO” and sent it to the Governor to be signed.  House Speaker John Cullerton came to PUSH last week to address the students and stakeholders  He said that Chicago State University is owed $45 Million..of which $4.8 Million (MAP)  is grant money for students.

MAP grant are critical to students because they have few choices to generate enough income to finish school.  Chicago State is a major economic engine and a priceless community resource. As the largest Public education facility..students that come thorough our doors decided to live ad work here.  This increases our tax revenue. Our neighborhoods need every dime we can get!!  Without State Money generated by taxpayers, that we are owed, their futures are in peril. Our neighborhoods might quickly become a a huge crime scene..
