Despite entering a plea of not guilty due to legal maneuvering by his counsel team, Dylann Roof wants to admit to committing mass murder of nine black parishioners inside the Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston, S.C., in June.
Roof’s legal representation entered a plea of not guilty in court to 33 federal charges that he executed churchgoers at point blank range during Bible service. His lawyers said their client will not plead guilty until such time that prosecutors divulge to their team if they decide to seek the death penalty, USA Today reports.
The judge in the case then entered a plea of not guilty plea for the murderous psychopath who could possibly face the death penalty stemming from federal charges of hate crimes, weapons charges, obstructing the practice of religion and a host of other felonies. Roof did not speak at the hearing except to say ‘yes’ to the judges questions.
It will be several weeks, it is being reported, before Roof has to reappear for pre-rial motions. He remains in jail without bond.
