BUD BILLIKEN IS AROUND THE CORNER
The Chicago Defender Charities has joined in partnership with Smart Chicago Collaborative, “A civic organization devoted to improving lives in Chicago through technology.”www.smartchicagocollaborative.com to bring you closer to the Bud Billiken parade,The World’s Largest Back To School Parade!
The Bud Billiken Parade is around the corner set for August 8, 2015 and will be marching through familiar streets of Chicago on the move starting at 39th/King Drive and ending with a Gospel concert in Washington Park. This year for the 86th annual Bud Billiken Parade the journey to it has been a very different one unlike any other in Bud Billiken Parade history. In partnership with Smart Chicago, The Chicago Defender Charities has been a significant promotional source of a series of performance events, hosted by various parade participants & performers.
The B.O.T. Competition (formerly Bangz Of Terror, now Bringing Out Talent) was one of the events, taking place on April 18th at The Ark of St. Sabina. The entire show was live streamed on the Bud Billiken Parade website at www.budbillikenparade.org. Visitors to the site not only got to view the performances from their mobile devices or computers, they also voted for their favorite performers via text, courtesy of Smart Chicago provided through Textizen.
According to Executive Director of the Chicago Defender Charities Marc A. Sengstacke, Ph.D., the response to each event is significant to the mission of the organization. “The Chicago Defender Charities is expanding its support of performing youth organizations. Currently, this involves providing publicity of their activities on our website and social media. Smart Chicago Collaborative has provided tremendous support for this endeavor and we look forward to even more from this partnership as we move forward.”
