Rachel Dolezal, the Spokane, Wash. NAACP president finally speaks on her true racial identity during an interview with the local television station.
Defiant and slightly profane, Dolezal relayed her thoughts on the controversy that exploded nationwide of her perpetrating the concept that she is a black woman when her parents and her birth certificate both identify her as a Caucasian.
During the interview, Dolezal had a message for her dettractors: “I don’t give two s—- what you guys think. You are so far done, and out, of my life.”
She did say that she owes an explanation to employer, the NAACP and the black community.
“It’s more important for me to clarify that with the black community and with my executive board than it really is to explain it to a community that, quite frankly, don’t really understand the definitions of race and ethnicity.”
“I actually don’t like the term African-American. I prefer black, and I would say that if I was asked I would definitely say that yes I do consider myself to be black.”
