In an unprecedented decision by the NBA, the entire starting five of the scorching hot Atlanta Hawks was bestowed  the “player of the month” nonors in January for the Eastern Conference.
Jeff Teague, Paul Millsap and Al Horford were named to the 2015 NBA All-Star Game, to be played in New York. But they are joined by the other two starters — sharpshooter Kyle Korver and DeMarre Carroll — in receiving the honors.
The Hawks shocked the league by weaving together a 17-0 mark in the month of January with a league-high and team record 19-game winning streak. Along the way, the Hawks demolished teams in the Eastern and Western conferences alike, including the pre-season ordained title contending Cleveland Cavaliers by 23 points on their home turf. They now enjoy an eight-game lead over the 2nd place Toronto Raptors and a 10-1/2 game lead over the Cavs heading to the All-Star break, boasting a 41-9 record.
They also accomplished the enviable feat of stringing together one of the few undefeated months in NBA history.
