Four recognized at Urban League’s Ron Brown Gala 

20YEARS
20 YEARS OF SERVICE—Esther Bush receiving an award for her 20th anniversary as head of the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh. It was presented by Annie Hanna Cestra, Urban League board chairman.  In a surprise ceremony, Esther Bush was recognized for assuming the role as President  & CEO of the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh 20 years ago to the date. Since 1996, the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh has honored outstanding individuals, organizations or corporations in the Greater Pittsburgh community who exemplify leadership in improving the quality of life for African-Americans.

The 2014 Ronald H. Brown Leadership honorees were: Vanessa German,  accomplished visual and spoken word artist and advocate, Community Leadership Award; Rev. Dr.  Johnnie Monroe, civil rights champion and community leader, Community Leadership Award; and Nate Smith, labor and civil rights activist,  Special Posthumous Award.
