With same sex relationships being more public and even politicized, it is not uncommon to see more of these romantic story lines on screen and on stage.
The Pasadena Playhouse welcomes “Stop Kiss” a play written by Diana Son that has been widely received and is the winner of the GLAAD Media Award for Best New York Production.
Broadway actress, film and TV star Sharon Leal (Rent, Miss Saigon, Dreamgirls, Boston Public, Private Practice) and Angela Lin (Father’s Love, H.O.M.E and Miracle Dogs) assume the role of two women whose public show of affection causes one of them to be brutally beaten.
The production of Stop Kiss showcases the directorial debut of Seema Sueko, from the Mo`olelo Performing Arts Company of San Diego. The play explores a range of human emotion and the complexities that are the byproducts of unbridled passion.
Guests are also invited to chime in for Talk Back Tuesdays, a post-show event that features a panel discussion with the performers and community. Also in the cast of Stop Kiss are John Sloan, Amanda Carlin, Brandon Scott and Jeff de Serrano.
Ms. Sueko is a new Associate Artistic Director for the Pasadena Playhouse and her work has earned awards from the American Theatre Wing, the National Endowment for the Arts, Actors’ Equity Association, and the N.A.A.C.P. San Diego Branch, among others. Sueko’s additional directing and acting credits include The Old Globe, Yale Repertory Theatre, 5th Avenue Theatre, Indiana Repertory Theatre, San Diego Repertory Theatre, and Native Voices at The Autry.
