Maya Angelou’s brilliance and influence cut a wide swath across American culture and world stage, evidenced by the tidal wave of human outpouring that has flooded the airwaves in celebration of this remarkably gifted author, poet, activist, teacher, Civil Rights icon and speaker.
Celebrities from across the complete spectrum of entertainment poured the contents of their soul into cyberspace in a reverent tribute to a rare intergalactic gem of a woman who worked with both Martin Luther King and Malcolm X and everyone in between in the fight for a just and balanced society. She died on May 27, 2014 at the age 86 of complications from a variety of medical maladies.
Based upon the responses below, Angelou will be dearly missed and the cavernous void she left will be impossible to fill.
