Black public relations professionals present PR Revitalization Day Summit

 

 

The National Black Public Relations Society – Detroit Chapter (NBPRS) is pleased to announce Public Relations Revitalization – Exploring New Age Practices to Reach Global Success event. This day long summit will take place on Saturday, May 18th at the historic Detroit Public Library (Explorers room) from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Tickets are $30 (non-members), $20 (members) and $15 (students). 

 

The summit will include public relations industry-related topics designed to engage dialogue, implement plans and execute action. The topics discussed will include subjects pertaining to: Public Relations Ethics, Business Entrepreneurship, Professional Development, and Social Media. Panelists include:

 

Recently elected National President of the National Black Public Relations Society Deborah Hyman will visit the Motor City and serve as guest speaker for the local chapter’s signature event.  Hyman will address the anticipated audience of 50 professional guests comprised of public relations and communications professionals comprised of recent PR graduates, mid-career and veteran public relations industry professionals.  

 

“As practitioners and communications professionals in metro Detroit, it is imperative that we stay above the curve in creating and securing business,” says Tamekia N. Ashford, president of the National Black Public Relations Society Detroit Chapter. “We are taking the lead to craft change and impact as it relates to responding to the concerns and issues our colleagues are facing in the job market.  In turn, we believe our PR Summit is the first step to addressing and creating tangible solutions in the industry,” says Ashford.

 

NBPRS-Detroit heralds a collaborative association with local crown jewel, the Detroit Public Library.  DPL is a premiere institution that fosters learning with books, technology, research, and reading.  

 

DPL is not only a local landmark, it is home to unique community initiatives and one-of-a-kind programs such as: The Detroit Public Library annual African American Booklist designed to commemorate Black History Month featuring a selection of fiction, non-fiction, children’s books; One Book, One Community – an open reading initiative program, and the popular Java & Jazz Series that features local musical performing artists.
