Hawks’ Kyle Korver Welcomes Baby Girl

Kyle Korver and his wife, Juliet, welcomed their first child, baby girl Kyra Elyse, to their family Wednesday afternoon. The Hawks team organization reports that both mother and child are doing great.

“It’s emotionally draining,” Korver said Thursday. “You watch your wife battle. She was grinding for a long time, 30 hours. You want to make it better but you can’t really do that so you just hold her hand and tell her she is amazing.”

Korver was absent for the team’s 108-104 win over the Denver Nuggets because the labor process began Tuesday.

Both Juliet’s and Kyle’s were in Atlanta Thursday to meet their newborn granddaughter.

Korver had actually been out prior to the birth of his daughter. The sharpshooting guard has been missing in action, sitting out with back spasms and hasn’t played or practiced since coming out of the Nov. 28 game against the Bobcats in the third quarter. Korver said he is feeling “much better.”

The new father had been averaging 10.8 points and 3.7 rebounds this season for the Hawks, but his status is doubtful for Friday’s game against the Wizards.

The 6’7″ Creighton graduate and his wife have been together since 2011.
