Officials join in the Walmart groundbreaking at the historic Westside Village in Vine City Monday, March 12. Russell and Co.; his father, Herman Russell, chairman of the Board of Directors for H.J. Russell; and state Rep. Calvin Smyre. The landmark Supercenter will redevelop a site formerly occupied by another major supermarket near the Atlanta University Center and across the street from the old Paschal’s Restaurant. It will help revitalize the economy for the once-thriving commercial district in the Southwest Atlanta area.
