ATLANTA – As a partner of HomeAid Atlanta, Construction Resources has announced the completion of a new apartment building at Rainbow Village in Duluth. The company’s Atlanta Glass & Mirror, Inc. donated vanity mirrors, wire shelving and bath hardware; Atlanta Marble Mfg., Inc. put in cultured marble vanity tops; Atlanta Kitchen, Inc. supplied Corian kitchen tops and Builders Floor Covering & Tile installed the flooring.
“HomeAid’s efforts, with the support of donors like Construction Resources, helped save Rainbow Village approximately $225,000 on overall construction costs!” said Jean Hilyard, Director of Community Engagement for HomeAid Atlanta. “That money will go a long way in helping resident families.”
Rainbow Village is a transitional housing community for homeless families with children. Most of the heads of households are women fleeing lives of domestic violence and poverty. Rainbow Village offers a long-term program that includes support services for families, such as life skills training, character building, counseling, career development, after-school programs, financial education and more. The new three-story, six-unit building will add 36 beds to the campus. Each apartment includes three bedrooms, a kitchen, living room and two bathrooms.
For the past 14 years, HomeAid Atlanta’s core belief has been that every individual has worth, human dignity and deserves the basic provision of shelter as a necessity of life. The organization works in partnership with the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association, as well as companies like Construction Resources. To date, HomeAid Atlanta has completed 53 housing, remodel and care day projects.
“We have enjoyed working with HomeAid and look forward to seeing the continuation of great, life-changing programs at Rainbow Village,” said Sonny Hires, co-owner of Construction Resources. “We hope that our contribution will help families craft a new life, knowing that the whole community is behind them with love and support.”
