Bon Ami Temple #49 celebrates community leaders

For the officers and members of Bon Ami #49 honoring those who do hard work in the community, small business and Elkdom is an annual event. On March 21, at the Comfort Inn Hotel in Penn Hills their Awards Dinner Dance was held. Nearly 200 enjoyed an evening of dining, dancing and recognition.
This year’s honorees included: Robyn Greer, owner/operator of The Trevor James Experience Salon (Entrepreneur Award); The Honorable Marita Garrett, member of Wilkinsburg City Council, (Civic Service Award); and Adrienne Turner (Community Service Award). Members of Elkdom were also recognized during this special evening.  Brother Bobby Mulgaso of Booker T. Washington #218 was honored as Mr. Elk and Daughter Rhonda Randall of Evening Star Temple #85 was presented the Ms. Elk Award. The awards portion of the evening concluded with two surprise awards––the Good Brother and Good Daughter Award. These awards are presented to members of Elkdom who have gone the extra mile. This year’s honorees in that category were: William B. Saunders (Northside Elks # 124) and DeWayne L. Cheatham (Mosiwidael Temple #38), both were surprised and humbled by the honor.
Bon Ami #49 was originally organized in 1912. Bon Ami is a French-English word meaning “good friend.” This temple has contributed time and donations to many worthy organizations including Camp Achievement, the Hurricane Katrina Disaster Fund and Womanspace East.
