Gas Prices Dropping Below $3 in Atlanta

Just in time for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday driving season, gas prices are dropping below $3 in certain parts of metro Atlanta.
Overnight gas prices dropped another two cents, WSBTV reports, to the point where many drivers are paying less than $3 a gallon.
Industry experts told the television station say Atlantans will continue to see descending prices the next few weeks.
For example, the price for a gallon of gas is $2.99 at the Chevron gas station on Lawrenceville Highway.
Don’t get too excited just yet, however. Triple A (AAA) said the national average has dropped to $3.09. Atlanta’s average is now $3.07.
In fact, there is competition in Forsyth County to see who can sell the cheapest gas on Canton Highway
Another station, the Sport Trak, is reportedly selling gas at $2.72. The Texaco across the street is two cents cheaper at $2.70, if drivers pay for the gas with cash. They even dropped to $2.65 earlier this week, but Texaco stepped in and said that was too cheap and told the owner to raise it five cents.
Oil analyst Chris Edmonds said increased oil production here and lower demand from overseas has brought oil down to $82 a barrel, around a 4-year low.
Only time will tell to see if this trend continues.

“But it’s very possible that if we stay at the $80-$85 level. Gasoline stays in the high 2’s for the next month or two,” Edmonds said.
