These images from 2011 are among the top memories for this past year. They include Andy Young’s portrait (clockwise from top left) being hung in the Washington, D.C., National Portrait Gallery; John Lewis being awarded the Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama; Radcliffe Bailey being the first African-American Atlantan to have a show at the High Museum of Art; the centennial celebration for the Herndon Home built by former slave and Atlanta Life founder and millionaire Alonzo Herndon; Atlanta  Daily World Publisher Alexis Scott and the Scott Family being inducted into the inaugural Atlanta Press Club Hall of  Fame; First Lady Michelle Obama as Spelman College graduation speaker; thousands attend the King Memorial dedication; and Trumpet Awards founder Xernona Clayton helps cut the ribbon on a new street named in her honor.
