White supremacist flyers linked to the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) have reportedly surfaced in several Ohio neighborhoods.

According to WCPO, the flyers appeared in the College Hill and Madisonville neighborhoods of Cincinnati, urging white residents to arm themselves against “vicious attacks from those of color.” The flyers surfaced following a fight that broke out at the Cincinnati Music Festival weeks before.

College Hill Residents Tiffany and Rahman Shabazz said they were “disappointed” to find the flyers in their community.

“We picked them up and read them, we were just truly disappointed,” Rahman said.

“We want, you know, those individuals to know that’s not acceptable in this neighborhood or anywhere else in the city,” Tiffany added.

Cincinnati Police Lieutenant Jonathan Cunningham confirmed the department had launched an investigation into the flyers.

“The Cincinnati Police Department has been made aware of Ku Klux Klan (KKK) flyers being distributed in various communities within our city. Our Intelligence Unit is actively investigating this matter,” Cunningham said, urging anyone with information to contact police.

David CS Whitehead, president of the Cincinnati NAACP, released a statement condemning the flyers, saying, “This message is regarding the recent flyers that have been distributed in various communities across our city. These flyers not only seek to create division, but also recruit members to the hate groups. Please know that we are aware and are working with the proper authorities regarding further actions.”
