Kevin Cole South Fulton County High Schools Juried Art Competition at the Southwest Arts Center

The Society, Incorporated, Supporting the Arts Greater Atlanta Chapter in collaboration with the Southwest Arts Center will host the 21st Annual Kevin Cole South Fulton County High Schools Juried Art Competition on April 17, 2025, at the Southwest Arts Center

 

Atlanta— April 14, 2025 —Talented high school students from Atlanta Public Schools and the Fulton County School System will participate in the highly coveted Kevin Cole South Fulton High Schools Juried Art Competition on April 17, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at the Southwest Arts Center located at 915 New Hope Road, S.W., Atlanta, GA 30331. The Society Incorporated, Supporting the Arts Greater Atlanta Chapter will present awards to the first-place winner for each school. In addition, the overall second and third-place winners will receive awards. 

 

The Leonora Davis Award or Scholarship will be presented to the student whose entry is designated the Overall first place winner, “Best in Show”.  Kevin Cole, artist, and educator, will present the second ever Kevin Cole Senior Scholarship Award this year to the most dedicated and deserving senior who will be attending an educational institution.

 

The Kevin Cole South Fulton High School Juried Art Competition founded by Award-winning artist and educator Kevin Cole in collaboration with the Southwest Arts Center is now in its 21st year. The high schools participating in the 2025 competition include: Benjamin Banneker, Benjamin E. Mayes, Booker T. Washington, Carver Early College, Creekside, Coretta Scott King Young Women’s Leadership Academy, Langston Hughes, South Atlanta, Therrell, Tri-Cities, and Westlake.

Kevin Cole received his B.S. from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, M.A. in art education from the University of Illinois at Urbana, and an M.F.A. from Northern Illinois University.  During his career, he has received 27 grants and fellowships, 66 awards in art, and 51 teaching awards, and over 45 public art commissions.
