Women’s History Month Celebration With DeKalb County CEO Lorraine Cochran Johnson

“Celebrating Women of Color… DeKalb Women Speak” is an enriching Women’s History Month Celebration produced by Chit Chat Communications in partnership with DeKalb County Superior Court Clerk, taking place this Saturday, March 8, 2025, 11am-2pm on International Women’s Day,  at the Porter Sanford Performing Arts Center in Decatur. 

Hosted by 1380 am WAOK’s Juandolyn Stokes, this fun and engaging program will include: Poet / Singer Theresa Tha Song Bird performing “You So Black”; A step show performance by Champion Theme Middle School Stompers; A one-woman show re-enactment of black women history makers by 11-year old Sherele Walker; A woman in history highlight presentation of Sheriff Melody Maddox by 14 year old Harper Evans; A live painting demonstration of the event, by 13 year old Nyla Searcy; and a fireside chat with DeKalb County’s newly elected CEO Lorraine Cochran Johnson.

At the conclusion of the formal program, there will be a delectable brunch hosted by Z Fabulous with music provided by DJ ChuckTown. The brunch will be a party atmosphere to include: networking, line-dancing, games, prizes, wellness activities, and vendor’s row. 

“With the hopes of expansion this year, we were blessed to bring our program to DeKalb County through our partnership with DeKalb County Superior Court Clerk Debra DeBerry,” said Carla Morrison, CEO of Chit Chat Communications and organizer of the event. “Next year we plan to turn this event into an expo experience.”
